Q
|
How is Startpage run? |
A
|
Startpage is an online community where people create and maintain their own sub-pages about a specific topic (or number of topics). Each sub-page is run by a sub-editor who is responsible for the content on that page. The sub-editor follows the Startpage guidelines with regards to maintaining and running that page. As a result, you receive top-class content and links without the unnecessary clutter of commercial ads, links and sponsors who jeopardize the quality of what you are looking for.

Q

What is a sub-page? |
A
|
A sub-page is a page created around a specific topic or subject run by a person, who is known as a sub-editor. A sub-editor maintains a sub-page using the Startpage content management system, known as Cockpit. For example, a person with a keen interest and knowledge in music will run the sub-page music.startpage.co.za. Just about anything can be converted into a sub-page. www.startpagina.nl has around 5,000 sub-page ranging in topics from Pink Floyd to Porsche and from Persian Cats to Project Management. Any topic that you can think of can become a successful sub-page on StartPage.

Q |
Can I make money with my sub-page? |
A |
Every sub-page has its own sub-editor, who designs his/her own particular page on a non-profit or profit basis. Most sub-editors work on a sub-page either as a hobby or as a job interest. You can ultimately turn your sub-page into a small business venture as the traffic to your sub-page increases. You can sell 15 of your links to advertisers and a 234x60 animated banner ad on the top left hand corner of your page. The revenue generated from these sales is 100% for your gain.
